On April 18th, join Louis and Irene for a wholesome and yummy day by the ocean at Casa Vermelha.
This lovingly curated event weaves together wild plant foraging, fire cooking, nourishment and connection. Throughout the day we will explore the cliffs and gardens surrounding Casa Vermelha, learn the ancient art of cooking with fire, and share a vibrant plant-based meal prepared over open flames.
Guided by Louis, chef and founder of Acacia Cuisine, and Irene, herbalist at Da Lua and guardian of Casa Vermelha, the day invites you to reconnect with elemental ways of cooking and gathering food — simple, delicious and deeply rooted in the land.
Expect beautiful flavours, practical knowledge, ocean air, and warm moments around the fire.

About this event
We’ll kick off the day with homemade snacks and refreshing herbal mocktails as you settle into the enchanting atmosphere of Casa Vermelha — taking in its natural beauty, inspiring architecture and stunning ocean views.
Together we will:
• Learn the fundamentals of open-fire cooking
• Understand how to work with heat, flames and embers
• Walk along the cliffs identifying wild edible and medicinal plants
• Discover the coastal ecosystem and Casa Vermelha’s garden
After the walk, Louis will demonstrate traditional fire-cooking techniques inspired by the Alentejo region, preparing a vibrant plant-based meal over the fire pit.
Participants will follow the full process from flame to plate, before gathering together to share the feast — connecting and resting by the fire.
Throughout the day the elements accompany us:
~ Earth in the plants we discover,
~ Fire in the flames that cook our meal,
~ Water in the vast ocean before us,
~ and Air in the open coastal landscape.
*Please note: While participants will not all cook directly on the fire, the workshop includes detailed demonstrations and explanations of every step so you leave with the knowledge and confidence to try it yourself.

Louis is the owner and Head Chef at Acacia. Both catering company and supper club, Acacia celebrates seasonality, locality and the interweaving webs of nature that support our existence; that are the essence of our being and our growth. Through an intimate relationship with ingredients, growers and diners, Acacia draws people together to celebrate the rich bounty we are gifted. Louis looks to mindfully curate unique, self-developed dishes, with an appreciation for tradition and tactfully execute their creation.
